I love your pictures! I must say though – this picture of you in the wheelchair, in the striped shirt… if you look really quickly at it, like I did – it looked like you were wearing a a big poofy diaper – LOL. It made me laugh, so I hope it made you laugh as well. : )

Hi ! Many prayers and blessings to you ! I’m writing you because my husband had cancer, but had his heavenly birthday on Oct.8th,2010. There is a book,…Anti Cancer..A New Way of Life you might want to read it. Very good info in it.A doc @ 31 yo discovered he had a brain tumor. But realized after he was cancer free…there wasn’t anything to prevent reoccurance. He explains everything in the book as to what he did.
Although my husband didn’t survive,my goal is to share with everyone that God puts in my path. I live in MA and have been saved 30 yrs. This was the best gift God and my husband gave me.A friend posted on FB the letter the teen wrote you, that’s how i was able to get to you.Blessings to you on your journey

Bro Schmidt, I am a college student at WCBC. One of the church members at my home church – Grace Baptist Church, Logan, UT, Pastor Jerry Stonehouse – was asking about you and I know that you are being prayed for out here in UT while you go through this trial. God has a special plan and I know that you are responding in a way that will give God the glory for it. Keep it up! It is so encouraging for the rest of us to see you go through this big trial – it helps us to look to God in our own! God bless and Merry Christmas!

My husband and I have recently started our new adventure as College and Career teachers at our church, Calvary Temple Assembly of God. Reading and studying the bible is key, but we were looking for materials with real life applications to compliment the teaching of God’s Word. I must say that you are such an inspiration and God has truly blessed you with your ministry and the anointing to minister to our young adults.
I have been touched by the sharing of your sickness, the pictures and the fact that you are still smiling. What a wonderful and awesome God we serve. I am asking our church to place you and your family on our prayer list and know that we will be praying. CTAG College and Career Class will also be holding all of you up in prayer.
    Isaiah 40:28-31
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

I’m praying for you and your family. I am a graduate of WCBC. There are people from my home church (The Home Church, Lodi, CA., Dr. Tim Pollock) that are praying, too. Pastor Luke in Bible Study last night asked me about you. I know that he’s been praying for you. Your ministry has been a real blessing to him.

  9. Kevin Murphy says:

    Hey Cary,
I heard about your illness and have been praying for you. As you may have heard, in 2009, I was diagnosed with APL leukemia. The doctors gave me a 50% chance of living. I gave it all to the Lord. Many prayers from my family and friends and the Lord placed my leukemia in remission. God is great!! I will continue to pray for you and your family.

It’s been almost 20+ years since our paths crossed in college. It is evident that God has used you in incredible ways and your life is a testimony of God’s love, grace and His sovereignty. May He be your strength and joy today.
I have such sweet college memories of you playing your keyboard for me while I sang. I’m still singing today and love it! It’s all because of Him!
Thank you for being real. Because of what Christ did for us, that should compel us to love Him more and desire to know more about who He is and value what is truly important in life – Loving God, Loving Others and Impacting the World around us for Christ.

Dear Brother Schmidt….just wanted you to know I have a co-worker who is having hopefully her last treatment today. You and she share the same Dr. Dr Birham she says has really been an encouragement to her…..Please pray for Diane Juarez. She is not saved. I pray that your pictures and your spirit during this time in your life will encourage her to understand that darkness comes by God’s sovereignty and christians see Him in all circumstances.

  19. Melissa Boucher says:

    Mr. Schmidt,
I was writing first off to let you know that I am praying for you!! I do not know you personally, but I do know of you 🙂 My brother, Mike, went to West Coast for a year and that is when I was introduced to your music! You have an amazing God-given talent with both writing and singing music! My name is Melissa and I live in Virginia. I am getting married next month and my fiancé and I were trying to pick out some wedding songs. I could not help but think of your “This Must Be Love’ cd that I have probably listening to over a thousand times! There was a love song on there that I have loved since I was a teenager at a church in Nashua, NH. I was searching on your website to try to remember the song and that is where I discovered this website and realized that the Lord has made you of very special chosen children! I say that because I believe the Lord only gives cancer to those people who can handle it and can be an amazing testimony to others through Him! I will be praying for you everyday now and will be looking at your website for all your updates!! I will be praying for you and your family!! Thank you for your strong testimony and for being someone that that Lord can use!! Your have an amazing story and testimony and I thank you for that! I know I have never met you and we are complete strangers to each other but please know that you mean a lot to me! Your in my thoughts and prayers!
    Because of Christ,
    Melissa

I just found out today about your condition. I am going to be praying for you. I am youth pastor in Arizona and have learned from you from a distance in admiration of how God has used you. My dad had the same cancer as you. It was a battle for him for several years, but today he is cancer free now for almost 2 years. You are on my prayer list. Keep on going!

  23. A pastor’s wife in Hawaii sent me the e-mail, Stuff Christians Need to Stop Doing, and I realized that you had written it. It is a wonderful article. I am wondering how you are feeling by now. I have not heard or read anything recent about you. I trust you are doing much better. I’m sure it has not been easy going through all the treatment, but God’s grace is sufficient.

  24. Liz says:

Praise the Lord! for your total healing manifistation. Looking at these pictures reminds me of myself when the doctors diagnosed me with Stage 1, Breast Cancer. You looked and appeared strong as I did too. Too God be the Glory. So happy to hear you are well! I enjoyed your talk last night at Chapparal Elementary School with Mr. Thomas Pitts. 26. Tabatha says:

HI! I am Tabatha! I just finished reading Off SCript! It really touched my heart and truly encouraged me! I am 22 yrs old and March 2012 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. I have been married for 2 years and we have a beautiful 6 month old little boy! I can say that i am a devout christian and from the moment i was diagnosed i have had peace through this whole experience. I am stage 3B. God has truly spoken to me and especially through this book! Its amazing how he works and he has worked in mysterious ways throughout this journey. This would be my first “Off Script” moment in life i will tell you this…i thanked God for it because like you said. Give thanks for all things! Not once have i been mad at God, he is working even when we cannot see it. Even in the chemo cave i know hes there. I know you have many tell you that youve spoken to their hearts and i usually dont write to people but God spoke to me as soon as i finished the book and said “does he have an email”. I took that as, write him. So i will be one more to tell you that your book and your off script moments of this book spoke to me and reminded me not to give up. As my chemo bracelets say Jeremiah 29:11. I trust in his will and thank you for doing it too and counting your trial as a blessing for God to use you.

    Bro. Shmidt,
I know you did this a while ago but just saw this site, and thought about how much your spirit through all this encouraged me! When you were diagnosed a couple years ago, you never stopped smiling. As if you new everything will be alright! Which made me think about how the little things arn’t big. (Ecspecially when we have God) So happy you have been cancer free for a while, and now a Pastor! It’s great to have a God that loves, and encourages us! I really appreciated you and your wife encouraging my senior class! I will always miss you guys so much! Thought you would like to hear this, even though this this was from a while ago!
