update on treatment #11

Just wanted to give a quick update on this past week’s treatment. The worst hit on Saturday and Sunday, along with some new side effects I haven’t experienced up to this point. Sunday afternoon and evening the chemo cave was as dark as it always is, and all day my mouth hurt. Actually, it was pretty much my whole head, but especially my tongue. Felt like I was chewing on a cactus. Strange. And no medication would touch it.
Today, Monday, the mouth pain has decreased, but I’ve been on the edge of nausea all day—more than usual. I was able to go into work for four hours, conduct some meetings, and work on some projects. Tonight I’m hoping for enough energy for Dana and I to take Lance and his date out for dinner before she goes home for the summer.

I believe the next few days will be downhill as far as pulling out of treatment effects. And Monday is the LAST ONE! (At least for now!) I have two HUGE prayer requests. Please pray that I won’t require radiation. We are in the process of scheduling scans and tests, and then a radiologist appointment in early June. Second, pray that Hodgkins won’t return. I’ve read many stories of recurrence and refractory patients (those who continue to recur over and over again.) I’m willing to take whatever journey the Lord desires, but I am praying that I can say good-bye to Hodgkins for the rest of my life.
Thank you for praying!

    Dear Bro. Schmidt,
Just want you to know I continue to pray for you in Kentucky. These are two huge prayer requests that we can take to our Huge God. Thank you for continuing to be a light for Our Lord even in the darkness of your chemo cave. I will be in Lancaster in a couple of weeks. Hope to see you and your family.
    In His Amazing Love
